Project Summary
These enabling works will deliver new boilers and upgrades to electrical systems on the existing SVUH campus, as well as new buildings to accommodate a neurology ward, medical records, and a staff canteen. Those facilities are currently on the footprint of where the new NMH will be located and when complete will allow existing departments and services to decant and clear the site in advance of the construction of the proposed new state-of-the-art 50,000m2 maternity hospital.

The NMH when complete will comprise a seven-storey building that will include 244 beds, five theatres, 24 birthing rooms, early-pregnancy foetal assessment and ultrasound facilities, and spaces to aid in near-patient education and professional development for healthcare professionals. The new NMH will replace the existing facility in Holles Street.
